New Year, New Hope.

I'm in the studio tonight working on a commission and putting finishing touches on some of my Shadowman paintings. I'm in the zone and feeling the high that comes from creating within my passion.

This has been a year of some of the lowest lows and highest highs. I've grown from the challenges and have been humbled by the successes.

Every year I make a resolution that is more an affirmation than just a promise. It becomes the theme that drives me to the next level in my development as an artist and ultimately… a human being. I haven't decided yet on what it will be. Last year it was to be a fearless artist, in my visual art (painting) and performing art (acting).

Huge changes coming this year. I promise to be even more creative. I have so much more of my 'song' too share.

Let the race begin!

I was asked to create a new resume for a job I was recently offered for work on a movie. So as I dug through all the different art related projects I have done over the years I found this image. It's of a stainless steel table designed for a jewelry store. It sits on a glossy black bowling ball. I had it fabricated by the talented sculptor, Constantin Hapianu.

Hanging New Art

I just got back from hanging my new series, La Foresta at Vino Bella in Issaquah. It is a wonderful venue for wine, live music and art. Claude Blumezweig, owner and front man for this welcoming bar in the Old Town area of Issaquah, has put together a winner. My paintings look great among this tastefully designed upscale entertainment spot.

Make sure you stop in during June and enjoy the sights and sounds with your favorite wine or beer.

I'll be painting live there during ArtWalk June 5th. Come watch me do my thing and listen to the amzing New Age Flamenco.

I guess it's movie time?

Here are links to two films I acted in a few years ago. They are both playing at the Seattle's True Independent Film Festival this June. One is Warriors End, a medieval drama and the other is Son of Terror, a horror film.

Over the past several years I have either produced, acted and even directed a film or two. Usually in the indie world, the process is slow as molasses. It takes forever to raise the money and to complete everything it takes to be ready for the shoot dates. Then suddenly everything moves at break-neck speed. Using limited resources with people who all put in amazingly long hours and pitch-in in areas beyond the agreed on (I love this part, it's a rush). Something happens along the way. You see an idea become a reality and you see the squeeze of limited resources and time push out many times a surprise of creativity. Then it goes to post, and if your an actor, like me, you often hear nothing for months and sometimes even years.

Time to Express Myself

For years now I have attempted to paint abstracts. But every time I think I'm getting close, I just haven't hit the mark by my standards. You see to me an abstract needs to have a little skin in it and it still needs to 'tell a story'. Today I am announcing to the world (or the five people who read my blog) that I have finally done it.

I have five pieces completed in this new series, and so far, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Here are a few images for a little tease. Ok their not fully abstracts they are more technically 'Expressionism' paintings.

Mobile & Kinetic Show in Issaquah

I just finished "Heart of the Matter" a mixed media kinetic sculpture. I found it to be so much fun to create. I really love this piece. It will hang at Up Front till March 28th in a group show. The works are all mobiles or kinetic art. Everyone in the show did a fantastic job. It's a must see.

Here's Looking at You

I've been developing my portrait style for several years now. It is something I really enjoy and the result is a real crowd pleaser. This Friday, November 14, will be Art Walk night in Couer d Alene, Idaho. It promises to be a lot of fun. I will be painting live at Studio 107 at 107 N. 4th St.

The top image is of Skip Rowley a developer and good friend of the arts around Issaquah. This painting is from the Annual Collective memory show put on by ArtEAST.

My great friend Michael Johnson took the street art photo of me painting in front of UP Front Art our gallery in Issaquah, Washington just outside of Seattle.

The Book Has Arrived

I know I'm a little slow to catch the technology waves. But here I go with my first blog. I want to put updates in here that I hope will keep my art loving friends informed.

Last week on August 7th and 8th, I was at Studio 107 in Couer d' Alene. On Thursday I was there for the grand opening of the TimberRock Winery tasting room. Their wine gets great reviews.
Studio 107 has a great selection of fine art as well as amazing jewelry and glass art. My work will be there for at least several more weeks so drop by.
